Surreal Theory
A cinematic brand studio creating films, identities and digital experiences for brands with something worth feeling.
The theory
We don't advertise products. We build the atmosphere around them — then bring that world into focus across film, identity and screen.
Selected work — 01
A candle holder, sold from the surface of the moon. Made for XZORA Livings, a luxury décor showroom that needed to be felt before it could be shopped.
Luxury décor is sold on product photography that all looks the same. The brief was to make one object unforgettable by putting it somewhere it could not possibly be — and letting the strangeness do the selling.
Lunar grey against deep black, a single hard light source, and a mirrored monolith to carry the reflection. Everything desaturated so the object reads as the only warm thing in frame.
Forty-six seconds, built vertical from the first frame rather than cropped down from landscape. Paced slowly enough to hold a thumb, scored to land on the product reveal.
Released as the anchor of a collection launch, with the product films below cut from the same visual world so the feed reads as one continuous piece rather than eight separate posts.

Built to be watched. Designed to be remembered.
Selected work — 03
From first frame to final interaction.
A curated décor showroom in Vancouver. Identity, storefront and the film language around it — built by the studio, and run by it, so the work is judged on what it sells.

A self-initiated identity and storefront for an independent coffee house — built to test how much atmosphere a small hospitality brand can carry.

Brand films, campaign visuals and social-first short film. Concepted, directed and finished in-house.
The world before the work — concept, visual language, campaign architecture.
Identity systems built around the personality of the brand rather than the fashion of the year.
Websites that carry the same atmosphere as the film, all the way to checkout.
Studio
Surreal Theory works with visually driven brands — décor and furniture, galleries, interiors, hospitality, architecture, fashion and beauty. Based on the Pacific coast, working wherever the brand is.
Generative tools are part of how the work gets made. They are a medium, not the point. What you are buying is the concept, the direction and the finish.
